Moerenuma Park
(モエレ沼公園)
Moerenuma Park is a large-scale public park in Sapporo, developed as a key location in the “Circular Greenbelt Concept” — a vision to surround the city with parks and green spaces.
모에레누마 공원은 삿포로 시내를 공원과 녹지로 감싸는 “환상 그린벨트 구상”의 핵심 거점으로 조성된 종합 공원입니다.
Construction began in 1982 and the park officially opened in 2005. The park was designed by world-renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi, under the concept of “the entire park as a single sculpture.”
1982년에 착공되어 2005년에 정식 개장하였으며, 세계적인 조각가 이사무 노구치가 “공원 전체를 하나의 조각 작품으로”라는 콘셉트 아래에 설계했습니다.

Once a waste disposal site, the area was transformed over 23 years into a symbol of Sapporo’s artistic spirit. Now known as a “sculpture of the earth,” Moerenuma Park reveals different faces depending on the time of day and changing seasons.
한때 폐기물 처리장이었던 이 장소는 23년의 시간을 거쳐 삿포로를 대표하는 예술 공원으로 재탄생했으며, 그 웅장한 모습은 “대지의 조각”이라 불립니다. 시간대와 계절에 따라 다양한 표정을 보여주는 점도 이곳의 큰 매력입니다.
Mt. Moere: Climb the Iconic Hill of Moerenuma Park
Moereyama is the largest structure in Moerenuma Park and the only mountain in Sapporo’s Higashi Ward, serving as a prominent local landmark.
모에레산은 모에레누마 공원에서 가장 큰 조형물로, 삿포로시 히가시구에서 유일한 산이자 지역의 대표적인 랜드마크입니다.
It is an artificial hill made by piling up non-burnable waste and construction debris, standing 52 meters tall with a summit that offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Sapporo and was designed to be exactly 2004 cm wide in honor of Isamu Noguchi’s 100th birth anniversary.
불연성 쓰레기와 건설 잔토를 쌓아 만든 인공의 산으로, 높이는 52m이며 정상에서는 삿포로 시내 전체를 조망할 수 있고, 노구치 이사무 탄생 100주년을 기념해 정상부의 너비는 정확히 2004cm로 설계되었습니다.
In winter, it becomes a hub for seasonal activities such as skiing and sledding.
겨울에는 스키나 썰매 놀이가 가능해, 겨울철 공원 이용의 중심이 되는 장소입니다.
Glass Pyramid “HIDAMARI” at Moerenuma Park: Architecture and Art in Harmony
The Glass Pyramid is a symbolic structure of Moerenuma Park and serves as a central space for cultural activities. Thanks to its glass construction that reflects the surrounding landscape, visitors can fully experience the beautiful nature of Hokkaido.
유리 피라미드는 모에레누마 공원의 상징적인 구조물이자 문화 활동의 중심 공간입니다. 외부 풍경을 그대로 반영하는 유리 구조 덕분에, 홋카이도의 아름다운 자연을 온전히 느낄 수 있습니다.
The shape of the pyramid is a unique structure composed of triangular planes, a square pyramid, and a cube, and it is said to be an homage to the Glass Pyramid of the Louvre Museum in Paris, designed by I.M. Pei in 1989.
피라미드 형태는 삼각면, 사각뿔, 입방체가 결합된 독특한 구조로 이루어져 있으며, 이는 1989년 I.M. 페이가 설계한 파리 루브르 박물관의 유리 피라미드에 대한 오마주라고 합니다.
Inside the building, there are a restaurant, gallery, gift shop, and the park’s administration office. On weekends, various cultural events such as music, dance, and art exhibitions are held.
건물 안에는 레스토랑, 갤러리, 기념품 가게, 관리 사무소 등이 있으며, 주말마다 음악, 댄스, 미술 전시 등 다양한 문화 행사가 열립니다.
Tips for Visiting Moerenuma Park
1. Open year-round, with free admission and free parking
The park is open all year round, and both admission and parking are free.
However, opening and closing hours are fixed, so it’s recommended to plan your visit accordingly.
1. 연중무휴, 입장료 무료, 주차장도 무료
공원 자체는 연중무휴로 운영되며, 입장료와 주차비도 모두 무료입니다. 다만 개장 및 폐장 시간이 정해져 있으므로, 일정에 맞춰 여유 있게 방문하는 것을 추천합니다.
2. Each facility has different operating hours
The beautiful facilities within Moerenuma Park may have specific opening hours or seasonal schedules.
In particular, the Sea Fountain operates only at scheduled times, so it’s best to check the timetable of the places you want to visit in advance.
2. 각 시설의 이용 시간이 다름
모에레누마 공원의 아름다운 시설들은 각기 운영 시간이나 개장 시즌이 정해져 있는 경우가 있습니다.
특히 “바다의 분수”는 정해진 프로그램 시간에만 운영되므로, 방문 전 보고 싶은 시설들의 시간표를 미리 확인하는 것이 좋습니다.
3. About 1 hour from central Sapporo by public transport
It takes about 30 minutes by car, and approximately 1 hour by public transportation.
Be sure to factor in round-trip travel time when planning your itinerary.
3. 삿포로 시내에서 대중교통으로 약 1시간 소요
차로 이동하면 약 30분, 대중교통을 이용할 경우에는 약 1시간 정도 걸립니다.
왕복 이동 시간을 고려해 여유 있게 여행 일정을 짜는 것이 좋습니다.
4. Renting a bike makes your visit more efficient
The park is quite large, and walking everywhere can be tiring.
Bicycles are available for rent on-site and are recommended if you want to explore the entire park efficiently.

공원이 워낙 넓기 때문에 도보로만 이동하면 빠르게 피로해질 수 있습니다.
