TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater: SCREEN 1

This is the entrance to Screen 1 of the TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater.
The wall highlights the three key features of the premium theater—Premium Large Format, Premium Sound, and Premium Seat—with matching icons.
On this day, I watched “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc – Part 1 Akaza’s Return” here, as it was the first day of its release in Japan.

This is the seating chart for Screen 1. When booking online, black seats are unavailable, while white seats are open for selection.
The block-shaped section near the entrance in the center is the Premium Box Seats area. The Premium Box Seats are located right at the center of the screen and positioned so that the screen is directly in front of you when seated comfortably.
According to TOHO Cinemas, the Premium Box Seats are designed so that only the screen is visible during the film, enhancing immersion. The height difference from the row in front is about twice that of regular seats, and the spacious layout allows you to stretch your legs and enjoy the movie in complete comfort.
Sometimes, when sitting in regular seats, a tall person in front of me would block the lower part of the screen, making it hard to watch comfortably. But with the Premium Box Seat, there’s no such issue—you get a wide, unobstructed view that lets you focus entirely on the film.

The premium box seat offers ample space for one person, and there’s a dedicated compartment beside the left armrest that fits a backpack comfortably—perfect for setting down your belongings and focusing on the film.
Even with the long runtime of about 150 minutes for “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc – Part 1 Akaza’s Return”, the soft and well-cushioned seat allowed me to stay immersed without any back or hip discomfort.
And of course, the powerful surround sound truly matched the scale of Japan’s top-tier anime, making it easy to forget reality for a while.
TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater: Premium Seat Pricing

The premium box seat ticket at TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater costs around 3,000 yen.
Ticket prices may vary, but as of the day I watched the film, a regular movie ticket was 2,000 yen. I used the late-night discount (1,500 yen), plus a 200 yen Dolby Atmos charge and a 1,000 yen premium seat charge, totaling 2,700 yen.
It might feel a bit expensive to some, but as someone who loves movies, I always choose the premium seat—because I want to focus entirely on the film in the best possible environment.
Even without the premium seat, Screen 1 itself offers an excellent viewing experience—so if you’re watching a great film, I highly recommend seeing it in a quality theater like this.
