TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater: Features, Location and Ticket Kiosk

TOHO CINEMAS UMEDA
PREMIUM THEATER

TOHO Cinemas Umeda has Screens 1 to 8 in the main building and Screens 9 and 10 in the annex. Among them, Screen 1 is the Premium Theater introduced on November 11, 2022, and boasts one of the largest seating capacities in western Japan.

TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater: Features

●Premium Large-Format Screen “TCX®”
Screen 1 is equipped with TOHO Cinemas’ proprietary large-format screen “TCX®,” measuring 15.0m wide × 6.3m high. This wall-to-wall, high-quality screen—combined with a top-tier digital projector—delivers bright and crystal-clear visuals.

●Premium Sound “Dolby Atmos®”
With the Dolby Atmos® immersive sound system and custom 4-way front speakers, the theater delivers realistic and powerful audio. Ceiling-mounted speakers and a proprietary processor create a three-dimensional sound space that pulls viewers into the story.

Premium Box Seats
Equipped with high-quality leather seats used by international airlines, wide wooden armrests, drink holders, and space for personal items, these seats offer exceptional comfort even during long screenings. Each seat is divided for privacy, creating a personal space that enhances immersion in the film.

The theater is highly accessible, located about a 5-minute walk from each Umeda station.

TOHO Cinemas Umeda’s main location is inside the HEP NAVIO building, which houses Hankyu Umeda MEN’S from B1 to the 5th floor, NAVIO Dining on the 7th floor, and TOHO Cinemas theaters on the 7th and 8th floors.

Screens 1 to 8 are located on the 8th floor of HEP NAVIO (main building), while Screens 9 and 10 are in the annex building HEP FIVE, known for its iconic Ferris wheel.

Stairs leading to TOHO Cinemas from the 7th floor

These stairs connect the 7th-floor NAVIO Dining area to the 8th-floor TOHO Cinemas.

Although you can take the elevator directly to the 8th floor from the basement or ground level, I usually prefer using the escalators so I can browse through the MEN’S building from the 1st floor. It’s a convenient way to enjoy both shopping and movies.

TOHO Cinemas Umeda Premium Theater: Ticket Kiosk

Self-service vit machines for picking up tickets from online reservations only
vit kiosks for reserved ticket pickup only

After going up the stairs and turning left, you’ll find the vit ticket kiosks.

These machines are mainly for customers who have purchased their movie tickets online in advance. The interface is simple, with English shown beneath the Japanese menu, making it easy to use.

Note that TOHO Cinemas allows online reservations without requiring membership.

Ticket machines for same-day, future, and reserved ticket purchases
All-purpose kiosks for purchase and reserved tickets

Even without booking online in advance, this kiosk allows you to purchase same-day and future tickets, as well as pick up tickets reserved online.

As with the vit machine, English is displayed beneath the Japanese menu, making it foreigner-friendly.
