RIVERSIDE GLAMPING Nuts
I enjoy BBQ almost every summer, and I always end up spending a lot of time choosing the right place. Popular spots around Osaka tend to be too crowded, making it hard to relax, and since I like beaches and rivers, I prefer places that aren’t too far, have beautiful nature, and aren’t overly packed with tourists.
Riverside Glamping Nuts, located in Shiga Prefecture, is close to Kansai areas such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, making it easy to visit not only for an overnight stay but also as a day trip. I live in central Osaka, and it took me about two hours by car, which made it very convenient.
The reason Riverside Glamping Nuts became the most memorable glamping site I’ve visited so far is not only because of its clean and comfortable facilities but also because the scenery was exceptionally beautiful—the crystal-clear Kanzakigawa and the surrounding mountains were truly stunning. Enjoying BBQ and playing in the river surrounded by nature was an unforgettable experience.
BBQ Review

The deck right in front of the tent is set up so that you can enjoy BBQ just like this. The table can seat up to about seven people if you add extra chairs. Since we were a group of five, we had plenty of space even after placing all the food and drinks we brought.
Although the table and BBQ grill are placed right next to each other, the deck is spacious, so it feels comfortable and not cramped at all. If you are worried about the grill shaking, you can secure the legs with large stones for added stability and peace of mind.

The grill was wide and spacious, allowing us to cook a generous amount of meat at once. The only drawback was that, since it uses charcoal, we had to cook everything fairly quickly before the fire began to weaken. You can purchase additional charcoal at the reception if needed, but for us, the amount provided was enough to cook all the meat and other food we had brought.

Here is the freshly grilled meat I enjoyed with my favorite Asahi Super Dry. Adding lettuce Korean-style makes it even more delicious. Because it’s cooked over charcoal, you can also make roasted sweet potatoes and grilled corn, and even though I don’t usually eat them at home, they taste incredible during an outdoor BBQ.
Since I purchased the day-trip BBQ set, basic items such as beef, chicken, and sausages were provided. However, bringing your own preferred foods, drinks, seasonings, and sauces will allow you to enjoy the meal even more to your taste.
Clear and Transparent Kanzakigawa

After enjoying our BBQ, we went straight to the river to play in the water. The scenery—clear Kanzakigawa blended with the surrounding mountains—was so beautiful that we couldn’t help but admire it over and over again. The weather was also very sunny that day, which made the experience even better.
Even though it was mid-summer in Japan, the temperature in the mountains was around 28°C, making it relatively cool, and with a slight breeze, it never felt hot. The river water was a bit cold, but it was actually the perfect temperature for summer. If you go deeper into the river, there is a water swing, and if you want to fully enjoy the experience, the view from that swing is absolutely spectacular.

It was a stream so clear and transparent that you would probably never see anything like it in Osaka. The water was so clean that you could clearly see the riverbed even at spots quite far away. When the sunlight hit the surface, each pebble sparkled beneath the water, and even when small waves rippled across, the clarity hardly changed. Seeing such untouched natural beauty gave me a refreshing feeling you simply can’t experience in the city.

The water is shallow near the tents, but it becomes deeper as you move toward the opposite side, so please be careful. Also, the rocks in the stream are more slippery than expected, so going barefoot can be dangerous. It’s much safer to wear sandals that do not come off easily and have good grip.
As long as you follow basic water-safety rules, you can have an unforgettable experience at the crystal-clear Kanzakigawa, where the endless blue sky, beautiful mountains, and transparent stream all come together. Spending a day in nature helps relieve accumulated stress more than you might expect, and I found myself feeling deeply refreshed.
I hope that Riverside Glamping Nuts in Shiga Prefecture becomes another memorable place for you as well.
